How the right perfusion service can save you time and money.
You probably already have a perfusion service. But are you aware of the vast differences among perfusion services? Or that the service you use may not necessarily be the best one for your hospital?
Choosing the right service – one with a clinical philosophy and practices that enhance your service to patients, and your bottom line – can make a big difference.
What you should expect from a quality perfusion service.
By knowing what to look for in a perfusion service, you can get substantially better service and give your patients better care. You can reduce the problems associated with putting someone on a heart machine and still be cost-effective.
To keep blood utilization and resulting costs low, we use the most advanced technology, materials and techniques. We save on blood utilization packs, which makes every surgeon’s job easier and impacts the bottom line.
During a single year, our client hospital’s blood utilization went from an average of 5.6 units per patient down to just 0.9 units per patient. This made a dramatic difference on the dollars spent. We also deliver:
• Biocompatible circuitry – Specially coated circuitry that reduces inflammation and excessive bleeding and helps preserve platelets during surgery. • Vacuum-assisted venous return – More advanced than (and preferable to) gravity drainage. We need less blood during surgery and use smaller cannulas that give surgeons more room to operate. • Aggressive hemofiltration – We ultrafiltrate water from blood to stabilize patients who are very sick with low-albumin levels before surgery. This can help normalize platelets and colloid osmotic pressure, which can reduce postoperative bleeding, risk for sepsis and other problems.
More benefits for your hospital.
Our perfusionists are authorities on perfusion services and are passionate advocates for their hospital-based clients. They all work closely with cardiovascular surgeons daily.
Who is better qualified to understand your hospital’s perfusion needs than the perfusionists who already work closely with cardiac surgeons?
Unlike many perfusion services, the LACVT team does more than just “show up.” We work hard to become part of your surgical team. We build relationships with the surgeons and support staff.
We use only the highest-quality consumables. We work with each hospital to design a customized package of services to meet their needs, including:
• Professional services & consumable / inventory management. • Full-time perfusionists dedicated to your hospital. LACVT hires high-quality people as needed. • Flexible accessibility based on the number of patients requiring perfusion.
It’s our continuity of care, expertise and high standards that elevate us above the competition.
